Dream Interpretation: My Gift to You

This will be my final post on the subject of dreams.  It's my sincerest hope that you have come to realize the importance of processing your dreams.  If our dreams do possess the ability to communicate with us, then I'd like to propose that we have a responsibility to care for the information they deliver.

In my other two posts, I hope you noticed how my dreams were affecting the world around me, and had altered life as I knew it.  Because the more this happened, the more I wondered what else was possible through dreaming.  And it also begged the question of how it was happening.  Was someone sending me these messages?  And if so, who?

When a dream reveals information about something/someone that was impossible for you to know, and you come to find that it was accurate, what do you do with that?  Was it God?  Intuition?  A superpower you were born with?  A deep connection to the world around you?  Was it a coincidence?  Maybe it was.

But then when it happens again, and when it goes on happening throughout different situations and varying contexts, what do you do with it then?  Was it still intuition or special gifting or chance?  And again, maybe!  But at some point, certain explanations become less likely.  Would you agree?  And my point is this: how we choose to understand the nature of dreaming is vitally important.

On November 8th, 2017, the night my dreams came flooding in, it all happened on the heels of something I did on November 7th.  Would you like to know what that thing was?  I hope so because this is exciting stuff! (And you can do it, too.)

Here's what I did...

I started a conversation with God about it.  I said, "Jesus, I want to remember more of my dreams at night," and that was pretty much it.  That night, I had my first dream and the rest is history.  I quickly noticed that my dreams were somehow different now.  For example, I began to see specific situations play out in the lives of people I knew (detailed events and such).  And then I realized that I had something to offer them concerning what I saw in the dream, be it insight or encouragement or solutions, etc.

I began to see things that were helpful for my everyday life which changed the way I lived.  I learned how to distinguish between dreams given by God and those that weren't.  And I also experienced an increase in understanding when it came to interpreting dreams for others.  And that, my friend, is what all of this has come to.

This is what I'd like to offer to you...

If you've had dreams that you don't understand, you're welcome to send them to me and I'll interpret them for you.  You must know that I won't necessarily be able to interpret every element of your dream correctly, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt, okay?  And for some of you, I may not be able offer any interpretation at all (it just depends).  But I will do my best, and that's a promise!  And if I'm totally stumped with your dream, I may be able to point you in another direction to have it interpreted.

However, I do have one request!

Seeing that I may soon receive a large number of e-mails, only send reoccurring dreams.  And if you don't have any reoccurring dreams, send the most significant one you can think of. (And please, only one dream per person, okay?  Otherwise, this endeavor may become overwhelming and I'll need to stop.)

And if you're someone who doesn't remember their dreams, or if you simply want to remember more of them, consider doing what I did.  Ask Jesus to give you more dreams!  You may be surprised at what comes back... even if you don't know him yet.  You'll see.

And lastly, I would like to leave you with a few practical tips/insights
for interpreting your own dreams...

N o t e

The information below is by no means complete!  It's just to get you started.  The important thing is that we don't assume to know what something means but instead learn to process the elements of our dreams from different angles of understanding.

N A M E S

When a certain person shows up in your dream, that doesn't mean the dream is necessarily for them.  Within the context of the entire dream (and the situations surrounding your life),
first consider the meaning of their name and see if it applies to you.

P L A C E S

When a specific location is highlighted, consider the history of that place or what it represents to the locals there (or the world or the government, etc).  What is your connection to that place?  Or how has it impacted you in the past?

S Y M B O L I S M

Let's say a roaring lion shows up in your dream and attacks you but is unable to harm you.  And in real life, one your co-workers is trying to get you fired from your job.  A dream like this may be sent to show you that the plans of your co-worker are going to fail, allowing you to have assurance in the midst of a difficult situation.

L I T E R A L  D R E A M S

Let's say you dream that a massive earthquake hits a certain city.  And in the dream, the headline of a newspaper reads, "120,000 dead." You may have received this dream so that you could warn the city's officials of what was to come.

H I D D E N  M E A N I N G S

Let's say you have a dream and someone is building a bridge that connects two communities of people.  And for some reason, one of those communities is full of little people who are really powerful and wise.  In reality, however, you suddenly remember that two nights ago, you were telling someone about an idea you had to connect the hearts of mothers and fathers to their children.  This dream may be encouraging you to take steps in that direction.

I hope that some of that is helpful for you.  These are exciting times to be living in, friend!  Let's learn how to care for and process our dreams well!  We never know the extent that they may influence our lives or the world around us.  If you have a dream that you would like interpreted, you can send it to:
wrightings.blog@gmail.com

I will do my best to respond to each e-mail within a week or so.  In the meantime, if you'd like to learn more about dreams, click here to watch a great video on the subject.

And that concludes the series on  D r e a m  I n t e r p r e t a t i o n  !
Thanks for reading and good-night!

Dream Interpretation: Your Dreams

Based on the experience I've had with dreaming, I've come to the conclusion that our dreams have the ability to connect us to a reality beyond the one we know.  I have a growing confidence that this thing we call "sleep" was designed for more than just the recovery of our strength.  And if this is true, what exactly could this mean for you and I?

I once had a dream about a special conversation I was having with a certain family member.  The dream contained information that I didn't know about them and when I told them about the dream, a unique thing happened.  The conversation from my dream began to unfold before my very eyes.  As it turned out, the information I dreamed about was accurate and was actually shifting our present day reality.

Another time, I dreamed that a co-worker of mine had broken up with his girlfriend.  When I saw him at work that day, I suddenly remembered the dream and mentioned it to him.  A sad look came over his face and he told me that they had broken up earlier that morning. (!)

Can someone please explain how this happened??

I've heard it said that dreams are like a novel with disappearing ink.
The longer you wait to record them, the more they will fade.

The reason I remembered the dream about my co-worker was because of how otherworldly of an experience it was.  But in the past, I never used to record my dreams.  And with all that I'm now learning about them, I wonder if I missed something that day.  I wonder if there was some greater purpose and I didn't discern it.

If I had taken the time to record this dream, I may have remembered other helpful details about it (symbols, colors, emotions, etc).  Because what if I was supposed to call the girlfriend that morning and to encourage her in some specific way?  Or what if I had the dream so that I could counsel my co-worker regarding what to do after the breakup?

(By the way, this couple is happily married now and has two kids!)

I say all of this to say that our dreams are too important for us to neglect!  The truth is that (many times) they aren't "just" dreams.  They're hand-crafted, hand-delivered messages right to the doorstep of our souls.  So if you, too, would like to begin remembering more of your dreams, it's important that you learn how to care for them.  It's not always going to be convenient, but there are endless possibilities of what this could mean for your life (and for those around you as well).

It'll be worth it, I promise.

So if that's you, here are a few things you can do
to begin remembering more of your dreams...

Create a Dreams Journal.  I did this using my computer, but if you prefer to use a pen and paper, then do that.  You'll want to think back to the dreams you've already had and write them down (especially reoccurring dreams).  Give each dream a name and attempt to remember the date.  The point is simply to begin conditioning your mind towards dreaming so don't put too much pressure on yourself, okay?

After you've done this, write down the questions you've been asking yourself lately, big or small (life questions, things that are important to you, etc).  Also keep the following questions handy, which provide a baseline for understanding the dreams you'll soon have: What is the Setting of the dream?  What is the primary Action taking place (running, hiding, dancing, etc)?  And what are you Feeling in the dream?

Once this is complete, you're now ready to begin dreaming!

Immediately after you remember your next dream, you'll want to either write it down or record a voice memo of it on your phone.  This step is key because the longer you wait, the less you'll remember. (I prefer to use my phone so that I can stay in bed and fall back asleep more easily.) It's also good to get into the habit of recording all the details of your dreams... even the ones that seem insignificant.  Many times, they will come into play later!

And then, as soon as you're able, you'll want to write down your dream in your Dreams Journal.  If applicable, listen back through your voice memo to see if you missed anything and give the dream a name.  Record the date as well and take some time to process it.  Do your best to consider how each of its elements may apply to either your life, the world around you, or to someone else's.  And then write out a possible interpretation of the dream. (I create a Meaning section below each dream for this.)

Some dreams may not make sense right away.  And this is why it's important that you continue to process them every so often.  And do you remember the important life questions I mentioned earlier?  From time-to-time, it's good to revisit these as well and to compare them with the dreams you've been having.  That way, you can see if they've been answered yet or not.  But just know that you may need to do some digging as many of your dreams will contain hidden meanings.

And lastly, a word of caution.

If you have a dream about someone else and wish to share it with them, be careful how you do so.  I once had a dream that a friend of mine killed herself.  I woke up feeling worried and wondered if I should ask them whether or not they were feeling suicidal.  But after processing the other elements of the dream, I realized that my dream was not literal in nature.  Instead, it revealed a struggle that was related to a specific aspect of their life.  Basically, they were going to kill a part of who they were.

So instead of messaging them about death and suicide and gloom, I sent an encouraging message, hoping to breathe life into that specific place of their heart.  Does that make sense?  The dream gave me knowledge about something difficult they were going through, but my response didn't need to include more negativity.  As dreamers, it's our responsibility to release the answer to the problems we see and not to create more problems.

To this day, I've never told my friend about the details of the dream.

In my next post, I've got some practical tips for how to interpret your dreams.  And in addition to this, I've also got a little surprise for you... a gift if you want it.

Dream On, Friends!!

Dream Interpretation: My Dreams

Have you ever stopped to consider that a third of your life has been spent sleeping?  This means that a 30-year old like myself has already spent ten years in bed!  And so with all the time we spend in la-la-land, I'd like to suggest that there's more to sleep than just sleep...

What if that third of your life could be utilized to help you to make better decisions or to gain wisdom?  What if it could give you a sneak peak into the destiny of a loved one or warn you about something bad that was going to happen?

Well, I'd like to propose that it can. (And more!)

Over the last few months, I've begun to consistently remember my dreams at night.  From November 8, 2017 to February 16, 2018, I've recorded 46 of them, which means that I've remembered a significant dream every 2-3 days over the last 100 days!

Let's just say it's been an interesting season of life for me.

In waking from my dreams, I would remember such vivid details like locations and numbers, specific things that people had said, certain colors and emotions, and so on.  And one dream was so detailed that after typing it out, it filled an entire page of writing and contained 742 words!

In another instance, I had the same dream twice in one night.  And then once, I awoke from a dream, recorded the information, fell back asleep, and then the dream continued on, picking up right where it had left off. (And this happened a second time as well, except with three dreams instead of two!)

Throughout this season, it's been important for me to record each dream in writing, to process the information from various angles of understanding, and to then decide what to do with it.  Sometimes, a dream was related to me and other times, it was concerning someone else.

And while this is going to sound crazy, I once had a dream that ended up being for a total stranger I had just met!  In short, there was an element to the dream concerning a certain city and it didn't make sense to me.  In my notes, I had even asked a question about the city because I couldn't discern how it related to my life.

Note: This city was neither large nor famous.  It has a population of only 35,000 people and is located in America, which has around 19,000 different cities.

Well, that same day, I end up having an engaging conversation with a guy I had just met.  Towards the end of our conversation, he starts telling me about a city he wants to move to someday.  It was the city from my dream!  I quickly opened my computer and showed him the note I had just written about the city.  I told him about the dream and it ended up providing some pertinent insights for his life in terms of direction.

How crazy is that??

So let me ask you this: why don't more people have dreams like this?  Or do they and they just don't realize it?  I've come to believe that many of our dreams do contain important information.  However, they usually aren't straight forward.  They contain a lot of symbolism and have hidden meanings, making them difficult to understand.  And since many people don't often think twice about their dreams, they unknowingly neglect the information that was trying to come through.  And that's a shame because our dreams are like an untapped resource and the potential of the discovery is unknown.

Some of my dreams have contained warnings and others have given me ideas for projects to work on.  I once had a dream about the title of a book and after looking it up, the subject of the book dealt specifically with something I had been wanting to learn more about.  In another dream, I was confronted with a character flaw in my life and I made a decision to change in that area.  Another dream I had provided the initial steps for a person to begin actualizing a life-dream of theirs.

I say all of this to say that dreaming at night has become an amazing adventure for me!  It leaves me full of expectation every time I go to sleep and gives me joy knowing that my dreams are literally affecting the world around me.  In my next post, I'll discuss how you, too, can begin to remember your dreams and how to properly care for them.

Let's Keep Our Dreams Alive, Friends!
